 Pilot Custom Urushi is Pilot's flagship fountain pen and represents the pinnacle of the Japanese writing tradition. This pen was designed to elevate writing from an ordinary function into an artistic experience. In every detail, the patient perfectionism of Japanese craftsmanship is felt, and nowhere is this more striking than in the pen's body.
 
 The body, crafted from Japanese ebonite, offers a warm, vibrant feel in the hand, while the Urushi lacquer applied using the traditional Roiro technique gives the pen its unique character. This natural material, derived from the Japanese lacquer tree, has been used for centuries in ceremonial objects and imperial goods. The lacquer is applied in multiple layers, left to cure for days, carefully polished, and the process is repeated many times; completing a single pen can take months. In the black version, the deep, almost liquid-looking black sheen, paired with 23kt gold-plated accents, creates a whole that is eye-catching without ever being ostentatious. 
 At the heart of this elegant body sits the Pilot No.30 nib. Crafted from 18kt gold and partially rhodium-plated, this two-tone nib in Fine-Medium (FM) combines the refinement of fine lines with the comfort of a medium width. This balance provides ideal control and ink flow for both detailed notes and flowing handwriting. The pen can be used with either Pilot-specific cartridges or a converter and is safely carried thanks to its screw-cap system. The box contents include the pen with a converter installed, one ink cartridge, original packaging, and an international warranty certificate.
